Heart Transplant

Our God is holy.

His ways are higher than our ways.

Truly His thoughts are not our thoughts.

In our humanity, we tend to think that we can accomplish anything if we put our minds to it.

Perhaps that’s what the children of Israel thought as they cried out “Everything Adonai says we will listen to and do!” in Deuteronomy 5:24.

In retrospect, we understand that statement to be an impossibility. Time and time again they strayed from Him and His righteous standards. They cried out with hearts that were sincere and afraid, yet even so they were unable to follow through.

Adonai says something in response to them that seems almost hopeless.

In English it reads, “Oh how I wish their hearts would stay like this always, that they would fear me and keep all my commandments so that it would go well with them…”-Deuteronomy 5:29

What a tragedy it would be if their heartfelt cry ended in an unfulfilled wish from the Most High God.

That’s not how our God works though…

Our God is holy.

His ways are higher than our ways.

Truly His thoughts are not our thoughts.

If you were to read that same verse from Deuteronomy 5:29 in Hebrew, you’d see more than just a hopeless wish.

In Hebrew it reads, “Who will give to them hearts to fear me and keep all my commandments always?”.

This is a powerful question that results in a powerful answer.

A holy heart transplant.

…And not just for Israel of old, but for all who desire to walk in His ways like they did.

He answers this question for us in Ezekiel 36:26-27.

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit inside you; I will take the stony heart out and give you a heart of flesh. I will put my Spirit inside you and cause you to live by my laws.”

Who will give to them hearts to fear Him and keep all His commandments?

He will.

But how how?

He tells us that too.

Jeremiah 31:32 “But this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days. I will put My Torah within them. Yes, I will write it on their heart. I will be their God and they will be My people.

A new heart is given because a new covenant is enacted.

And Praise to our God, we have the the revelation of Yeshua our Messiah! Because he inaugurated the covenant by drinking the cup of suffering on our behalf, we no longer have to wait and wonder when this transplant will happen.

It’s here❤️
