Sin… it’s kind of a big deal.
When we think about sin, I’m sure lots of examples come to mind, be it lust, cigarettes, murder etc.
No matter what form sin takes on, one thing is certain;
SIN SEPARATES US FROM THE HOLY ONE. In the words of the prophet “Your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God. Your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He does not hear.” - Isaiah 59:2
The Scriptures define sin for us in two ways:
Violation of the Torah -
1 John 3:4 Everyone who keeps sinning is violating Torah — indeed, sin is violation of Torah.
And not acting on what you know to be right -
James 4:17 Therefore whoever knows the right thing to do and does not do it—for him it is sin.
Now, here’s the difficult part…
Although we all crave closeness with God and although we all desire to live in a holy manner pleasing to the Lord, ALL have sinned and fall short of t he glory of God. (Romans 3:23).
So that’s the separation aspect…
But God.
He never leaves us as we are.
1 Peter 3:18 For the Messiah himself died for sins, once and for all, a righteous person on behalf of unrighteous people, so that he might bring you to God. He was put to death in the flesh but brought to life by the Spirit;
In our sinful state of separation,
He provides divine reparation.
Baruch Hashem!
The closeness to God that we so desire is available to anyone anywhere who believes in the sacrifice of Yeshua.
Shavua tov, beloved ones❤️
Let us fully embrace our privilege given us in Messiah, and draw near to God more and more as we await His coming.
